What is a Hand Truck?

A hand truck (hand truck dollies or two-wheelers) is a moving handcart with an L-shaped design. It has two handles on one side and a load-carrying ledge standing atop two wheels on the other. When loads are placed onto the ledge, the handles are pulled backward, and the weight is balanced on the wheels to facilitate moving the bulk items, cargoes, or kegs.

Hand trucks are manufactured from stainless steel or aluminum to withstand commercial conditions and have a powder coating to prevent scratches and corrosion. They have an ergonomic design and pneumatic wheels, which enable users to hold and move up to 1800 lbs (816 kg).

Available Types of Hand Trucks

Additionally, hand trucks are available in several models, such as folding or stair-climbing hand trucks, to address varying needs in commercial settings:

  • Folding Hand Trucks: Folding hand trucks are designed for portability and space-saving storage. They feature a collapsible frame that can be compacted down when not in use. This makes them ideal for individuals or businesses needing a transport solution that is easy to store in tight spaces and transport in vehicles for on-the-go use.
  • Stair Climbing Hand Trucks: Stair climbing hand trucks have a unique tri-wheel design that allows them to ascend and descend stairs easily. This feature reduces the physical effort required to move heavy loads over staircases, enhancing safety and efficiency in environments with multiple levels. Some units are battery-powered to allow you to move heavy items through upstairs.
  • Convertible Trucks: Convertible hand trucks offer versatile functionality by transforming from a standard two-wheeled hand truck into a four-wheeled platform cart. This adaptability allows users to easily switch between configurations, accommodating larger items or multiple boxes in a more stable, horizontal orientation for transport.

Hand Trucks: Move Heavy Items with Ease

Hand trucks are commonly used in various settings, including warehouses, delivery services, moving operations, and retail environments, to improve efficiency, reduce physical strain, and prevent injury during the manual handling of goods. Chef’s Deal retains hand trucks to help you move and carry heavy items, cans, kegs, and boxes with comfort and ease.
