HABCO Manufacturing is an industry-leading producer of commercial refrigeration equipment such as freezers, coolers, merchandisers, and beverage refrigerators. The company’s long journey of rising from a small foodservice business to a reputed commercial refrigeration equipment supplier started when Harold Brown, a Canadian milk truck driver, started Brown’s Food Service Co. in 1953 to deliver pre-cooked foods with catering trucks.
1960 marked the year in the history of HABCO with a daring initiative to produce beverage dispensing machinery and change its name to H. A. Brown Ltd. In 1962, HABCO developed the first countertop beverage dispenser with lift-out refrigeration systems, now known as Cassette® Refrigeration. Gaining countrywide fame as an innovative and practical beverage dispensing system manufacturer, Habco became the main beverage supplier of the Montreal Expo in 1967 and cooperated with Pepsi to serve soft drinks in the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal.
In the same year (1976), the company re-branded its title as HABCO, associated with high-quality commercial refrigerators and freezers. The company started to produce glass door merchandise and freestanding refrigerators in 1985, and they are still a popular unit for supermarkets, convenience stores, and restaurants. HABCO launched sample servers for Coca-Cola in 1989, and this partnership continues in Canada. The handcrafted low-temp freezers were first produced in 1989 as the first step into the foodservice industry refrigeration sector.
HABCO Manufacturing Company is located in Toronto, Ontario, and continues operations with sustainable production by using 100% CFC/HCFC free and eco-friendly insulation, recycled components, and reduced waste and landfills. The company is still loyal to the principles of innovation, superior performance, sustainability, minimized downtime, and lowest Lifetime Cost of Ownership (LCO).
HABCO Manufacturing is dedicated to improving refrigeration performance through continuous investment in innovation, which introduced several key technologies:
HABCO Cassette® Refrigeration: One of the milestones in the history of HABCO, Cassette® Refrigeration is a single-module cooling system that can be easily removed to replace or maintain. This design offers exchangeable units to quickly replace the worn-out one, or you can upgrade your existing unit without purchasing the whole cabinet, lowering the landfill.
HABCO Free&ClearTM Condenser Coil: Designed to prolong the unit lifetime and reduce energy demand, the Free&ClearTM system presents less static pressure and increases airflow to the heating components.
HABCO Condensate Control System: HABCO uses a new condensate control system that utilizes the remaining refrigeration heat to prevent excess condensation while increasing efficiency with pre-cooled refrigerant.
HABCO Manufacturing serves a broad collection of commercial refrigeration units engineered to have a visually appealing design while offering eco-friendly and energy-efficient operations. HABCO Products that are designed for use in commercial settings with high reliability are as follows:
HABCO refrigerators provide durable, efficient, high capacity, and practical refrigeration solutions for your food products and ingredients between 41℉ (5℃) and 38℉ (3.3℃) in which they will be safely preserved. HABCO commercial refrigerators with glass doors are suitable for displaying your beverage and packaged food options, while solid door units are ideal for back-of-the-house operations. Available with single or double-door options, HABCO refrigerators in various capacities ranging from countertop to undercounter options with 25 ft³ ( 0.71 m³) units to freestanding with 78 ft³ (2.21 m³) models, which use R290 hydrocarbon natural refrigerant. HABCO commercial coolers offer top- and bottom-mounted units equipped with Cassette® refrigeration for easier maintenance and longer service life.
HABCO commercial freezers are built for long-term service in a commercial setting with faster maintenance and higher efficiency while being eco-friendly with R290 hydrocarbon natural refrigerant. All HABCO freezers feature variable speed compressors and glycol temperature probes to measure the product core for efficient and effective cooling. These reach-in freezers have drain tube heaters to prevent ice damming and non-clogging drum spiral condensers for smooth system operation. HABCO offers glass door merchandiser freezers for an attractive and enticing solution for food displaying needs, while solid door reach-in freezers help you preserve frozen treats in the food preparation process. HABCO freezers are available in 25 ft³ ( 0.71 m³) units to freestanding with 78 ft³ (2.21 m³).
HABCO pharmacy refrigerators are engineered to ensure high precision temperature control and temperature uniformity and safely store the medicine, vaccines, and samples. These pharmaceutical refrigerators are designed to work between 36°F and 46°F (2.2°C - 7.7°C) and can be easily controlled through a digital display with a resolution of 0.1°. These pharmacy coolers have visual and audible protection alarms for enhanced safety. The HABCO pharmaceutical refrigerators are available in 28 ft³ (0.79 m3), 35 ft³ (0.99 m³), and 78 ft³ (2.21 m³) units.
HABCO Health Lock refrigerators and freezers have built-in HealthLock™ technology, automatically securing the doors when the cabinet temperature exceeds the NAMA standard of 41°F (5°C) for 30 minutes. Therefore, your products preserve their best condition and, naturally, your reputation. The HABCO Health Lock commercial fridges and freezers are generally available in models of 49 ft³ (1.39 m³).
HABCO also presents HABCOLog to complete your refrigeration system with a state-of-the-art monitoring solution. HABCOLog is a temperature data logger for pharmacies, laboratories, hospitals, clinics, and other businesses that deal with sensitive products, specimens, and medicines. They precisely measure the cabinet temperature and humidity, record the data, and notify the operator by calling or texting through a seamless Wi-Fi connection when the set temperature levels are surpassed. HABCOLog presents simple access to the raw data, including records history, alarm data, and periodic reports to inspect the refrigeration operation.
