Anti-Skid Tape

What is the Use of Anti-Skid Tape?

Anti-skid tape is an adhesive-backed tape that features abrasive surfaces that provide grip on walkways, stairs, and ramps. It improves traction and minimizes the risk of slip-and-fall accidents in high-traffic areas, making it a key component of janitorial supplies in commercial and industrial settings.

What are The Considerations for Buying the Most Effective Anti-Skid Tape?

Selecting the most effective anti-skid tape depends on length, width, grade, and features suited to environmental demands. Evaluate the area size, foot traffic levels, and exposure to moisture or chemicals to select the best tape for long-term safety and durability.

• Length: Commercial anti-skid tape comes in rolls or pre-cut strips for flexibility. Standard rolls range from 10 ft (3.048 m) to 60 ft (18.288 m). Larger rolls extend up to 150 ft (45.72 m) or 300 ft (91.44 m). Pre-cut treads are available in practical dimensions, such as 2 x 12 in (5.08 x 30.48 cm), 4 x 30 in (10.16 x 76.2 cm), and 6 x 24 in (15.24 x 60.96 cm).
• Width: Standard options range from 3/4 in (1.905 cm) to 12 in (30.48 cm). Extra-wide specialty rolls start from 18 in (45.72 cm) and reach up to 54 in (137.16 cm).
• Grade: Grade reflects the grit size of the tape surface, which affects traction and texture. 36-grit and 46-grit deliver aggressive friction on wet or outdoor surfaces. 54 grit and 60 grit are medium-grade, offering a balance of traction and comfort. Finer 80-grit anti-slip tapes work well in barefoot areas such as showers and locker rooms.
• Features: Anti-skid tapes incorporate features that address specific environments and hazards. Industrial-grade options are more durable and better able to withstand chemicals, oils, and UV exposure. High-contrast colors, safety stripes, or printed “Watch Your Step” warnings increase visibility. Pre-cut strips or die-cut shapes simplify the application process.
