Structural Concepts Floral & Flower Coolers

Flowers last up to 2 weeks, and sometimes longer, in a florist cooler with proper care under ideal humidity and temperature. High-quality flower refrigeration can extend vase life by up to 75%.

The difference between a floral cooler and a standard refrigerator lies in environmental control. Floral coolers maintain high humidity (75–95%) and gentle airflow. Regular refrigerators use low humidity and rapid air circulation, which can dry out and damage flowers.

Humidity in a flower cooler averages 80–90%, sometimes reaching 95%, which helps hydrate flowers and prevents wilting. This balance maintains texture, brightness, and bloom form throughout storage or display.

No, you cannot use a standard refrigerator as a flower cooler. Standard food refrigerators operate at low humidity and subfreezing temperatures that damage blooms. Storing flowers with produce accelerates wilting due to ethylene exposure. Only purpose-built florist coolers provide proper airflow, humidity, and safety for flower preservation.
